1000 DSM Origami Cranes

The Japanese origami crane is a symbol of peace. The legend of the 1000 cranes says that
anyone who folds 1000 cranes will be granted a wish such as recovery from an illness.
During each show of the altered books “They say she is bipolar and he’s got OCD”
I teach the public how to fold origami cranes out of Diagnostic and Statistical Manual
of Mental Disorders (DSM) pages. It is a gesture of compassion and engagement. When
all pages of the DSM are folded and the cranes made into a garland its content will have
been transformed.
